My Favorite Sunless Tanner

I spent the majority of my late teens and early 20s laying in a tanning bed. For a short period of time, I was even paid to convince others to lay in tanning beds and purchase overpriced lotions that would give them darker skin in the shortest time possible. I was a “tanning junkie”.

Fast forward about 10 years and the horrors of skin cancer are just about as well known as Cheerios, and maybe it’s my age, but just about everyone I know is slathering on the sunscreen like it’s going out of style. Most beauty bloggers include sunscreen in their routines, and many of them even review them for their channels. And, I have yet to see a celebrity show their skincare routine and not include sunscreen, it’s literally the cool thing to do.

While I’m all about preventing premature aging and avoiding skin cancer I do find myself longing for that sun-kissed glow I had in my younger years. I mean, sure, maybe there were times a took it overboard, but I love me some bronzed skin. What’s the saying, “If you can’t tone it, tan it”? So, for the past few years, I’ve spent $100s of dollars, countless hours, and had some horrendous results searching for what I consider to be the best self-tanner on the market.

Finally, I am confident in saying that I have found the perfect self-tanner.

Please welcome, St. Tropez bronzing water for body and face.

I absolutely love these two products, and everything I say about them should be taken with the understanding everyone has a different skin tone and type, and what works for me may not work for you. So, without further ado, here are my reasons these two products are now a staple in my beauty routine.

  1. Easy to Apply

Applying self-tanning products is not idiot-proof, and most of the time it requires two people. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve ended up with streaks, spots, and a mess all over my bathroom. I’ve tried applying with my hand, a mitt, and every other implement that’s been suggested. This bronzing water is so easy to apply, and it literally takes me like 5 minutes to do my entire body. I spritz it all over whatever part I’m working on and then I use the St. Tropez tanning mitt to rub it all in. I have not ended up streaked or splotchy at all, and I never worry about my ankles, knees, or elbows. I honestly think this is the easiest tanning product I’ve ever applied.

  2. Smells Wonderful

Self-tanners have never been known for their smell, and I honestly thought that was just par for the course. Now, I will admit I have a very unpopular opinion in that I like the way a tanning salon smells, but in general, most tanning products don’t smell great. St. Tropez has absolutely destroyed that stereotype and I am obsessed with the way these products smell. They have this perfectly tropical, summery scent that makes me feel that I’m at a 5-star resort somewhere like Tahiti, not just lying on the beach in Panama City. It screams luxury.

  3. Perfectly Bronze Color

This may be where I lose some people, but this color develops into the most beautiful bronze perfection you could imagine. It is not a super dark tan, and it’s definitely not orange in any way. This color is a perfectly sun-kissed day at the beach, not I’ve been in a tanning bed for 3 weeks straight. It looks so natural, and because it’s so easy to apply there isn’t this weird build-up on the knees, elbows, or ankles. To me, this is what self-tanning products should be. I don’t want anyone to look at me and know I used a self-tan product. I want them to question my love of sunscreen. Seriously, I’m in love with the color.

Basically, if you’re into a natural-looking color that’s super easy to apply, these products are for you. You’re not going to get Jersey Shore dark, and you’re not going to look like you’ve spent a week on the beach without sunscreen. Instead, you will get a beautiful, healthy glow that’s “age-appropriate”, and won’t have you regretting all of your choices when looking at pictures 5 years from now.

If you’ve tried these products drop a comment, and definitely let me know if you decide to give them a try!

Love,

Lilly
